The DISC lens is now licensed to a local company in Hong Kong and available as a daily disposal contact lens. Prof Chi-ho To and Prof Carly Lam, together with the Hoya Corporation, designed a novel spectacle lens called a Defocused Incorporated Multi-Segment (DIMS) lens, which incorporated myopic defocus into a conventional visual correction lens.

Myopia control in children wearing DIMS spectacle lens: 6 years results - PolyU Scholars Hub
Myopia control in children wearing DIMS spectacle lens: 6 years results. In Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science (Vol. 63, pp. 4247) https://iovs.arvojournals.org/article.aspx?articleid=2781769.

Researchers found that even with more rapid myopia progression during the pandemic lockdown measures, the DIMS lens was associated with a 46 per cent lower degree of myopia progression in comparison with conventional single vision lens (SVL).
-
DIMS lens wearers showed better efficacy in myopia control in children with relatively more baseline hyperopic RPR than children with relatively baseline myopic RPR. This suggests that using customized peripheral myopic defocus based on individual baseline RPR may help to improve myopia control effects.

DIMS lens incorporated multiple segments with myopic defocus of +3.50 D. Refractive error (cycloplegic autorefraction) and axial length were measured at 6month intervals. Results 160 children completed the study, n=79 in the DIMS group and n=81 in the SV group.

Spectacle Lens That Can Hinder Shortsightedness Wins ...

Under normal circumstances, the Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments (DIMS) Spectacle Lens, co-developed by PolyU and Hoya Vision, can slow down myopia progression by 60 per cent.
